The word "eugenics" was coined in 1883 by the English scientist Francis Galton, a cousin of Charles Darwin, to promote the ideal of perfecting the human race by, as he put it, getting rid of its "undesirables" while multiplying its "desirables" -- that is, by encouraging the procreation of the social Darwinian fit and discouraging that of the unfit. In Galton's day, the science of genetics was not yet understood. Nevertheless, Darwin's theory of evolution taught that species did change as a result of natural selection, and it was well known that by artificial selection a farmer could obtain permanent breeds of plants and animals strong in particular characteristics. Galton wondered, "Could not the race of men be similarly improved?"

summery: Every one's parents love their child en ,but some parents do not . This story is called "Matilda". Her family is not good to her. Matilda is a smart girl. When she is two years old she can look after herself. She is mostly happy. When her father is at work and her brother goes to school. Her mother goes to play Bingo , so she can do anything she wants When she is four years old, she tells her father MR.WORMWOOD to buy a book for her but he is angry. He tells Matilda They have a TV " A TV is better than books . TV is more funny than books." He says.but Matilda is stubborn. She wants to reads books. Often MR.WORMWOOD works, Michael goes to school and MRS.WORMWOOD goes to play Bingo, Matilda finds a book and gels a map to the library. so now she goes there all day . A woman tells Matilda about library cards and taking books home.But when she talks a book home, MR.WORMWOOD is very unhappy. That day, they watch TV and Matilda reads her books MR.WORMWOOD is very, very angry. He takes her book and tears it a part and makes her watch TV. Matilda doesn't like this. she looks at the TV and BOOM! And she knows she has magic. One day she goes to school she is happy, but when going to school, she meets her school master. She is fat and, named Hortensia. she is mad. She throws girls like a ball. And on this day, She some to Matilda's class to teach them. A Matilda uses her powers to put something into her glass. Hortensia is angry and says Matilda did it, But Matilda says no and Matilda uses her magic to make that thing come out, Hortensia is angry and leaves. Matilda can use magic.
